When you volunteer, you give a priceless gift to those who are affected by end-of-life challenges and you make an extraordinary difference.

As a hospice volunteer, your dedication and kindness enables us to provide support, throughout Huron Perth and Area, to palliative clients and their families. In order to serve and reflect the many cultures and groups residing in our community, our hospice welcomes volunteer applicants who reflect the wide diversity of our citizens.

Due to the sensitive nature of our service, you will be required to participate in a thorough screening process which includes an interview, reference check, vulnerable sector police record check and health screening. Once successfully completed, you will participate in a 30-hour comprehensive training and orientation program to ensure you have the knowledge required to provide outstanding care to the residents in our hospice and/or the clients we serve in the community.

Whether you want to help others, meet new people or develop new skills – volunteering can enrich your life. With both short and long-term volunteer opportunities, you will have a mutually agreed-upon role that matches your interests, skills, and availability with the needs of the hospice.

For a challenging, rewarding and meaningful volunteer opportunity, please download and submit the Volunteer Application Form.

If you require a printed copy, or want to discuss current opportunities, please contact Katie at katie@rotaryhospice.ca or 519-508-4900 x730.

Volunteering at the Rotary Hospice Residence

Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth requires approximately 150 volunteers to support the hospice in various roles. The primary roles at the hospice residence include reception, direct resident support, and kitchen (cooking and baking). We also recruit volunteers to assist with the grounds and gardens, and with the administration team.

Visiting Volunteer Program

A team of highly trained, compassionate and knowledgeable volunteers make weekly visits to clients’ homes. The focus of their visit is to provide emotional, social and/or practical support to those living with a life limiting illness and support to their caregivers.
